Artist Statement
The subjects of my works are around me.
I don't leave the house without a sketchbook and drawing tools, they are always ready to be pulled out and capture a moment on paper. Drawing from observation is the way I experience my routine.
My favorite subject is people - their faces always fascinate me, make me want to draw them, and this way - to understand them.
My works are influenced and activated by the surprise effect of street drawing and events over which I have no control, the adrenaline and lack of time that forces me to filter the information in front of me and put only the essentials into the painting.
I have a need to document what I am going through. Even in quiet and pastoral places, there are exciting things that make me pull out my pencil. Everyday is the opposite of extraordinary and exciting, but once we let ourselves immerse with it, there is a chance we’ll discover something new and poetic!
